The Good Investors, an investment collective focused on driving systems change, took part in an experiment with the Deep Transitions Lab to explore how investments can accelerate multi-system transformations.

This organised learning journey, rooted in Deep Transitions research, aimed to refine goal-setting, investment strategies, and processes to generate new insights and shift mindsets.

The experiment spanned five workshops over six months, supported by online interactions and strategy development. Activities included assessing the potential of a systemic fund focused on transforming the food system, providing frameworks and tools to guide investments towards systemic change, and stretching methodologies to support more sustainable and inclusive investment goals.

The case study outlines the methodology and highlights key outcomes, such as:

  • Development of a Transformative Theory of Change
  • Deepened understanding of the assumptions shaping investment decisions
  • Integration of Deep Transitions tools into The Good Investors’ existing methodologies for systemic investment
  • Implementation of changes to The Good Investors’ investment process
