This practical guide is aimed at facilitation teams that support the development of Shared Agendas and the transformative innovation initiatives they drive.
It is based on the facilitation model developed and tested by the RIS3CAT team of the Government of Catalonia since 2023, across more than 20 innovation camps involving over 1,000 people and more than 600 organizations.
It brings together accumulated experience in transformative innovation policy, through collaboration with the INGENIO research centre and the Transformative Innovation Policy Consortium (TIPC); in systems thinking and system mapping, drawing on joint work with the OECD and ReImagined Futures; and in the reorientation of smart specialization strategies towards transformative innovation, through cooperation with the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. It also incorporates insights from previous work in Catalonia published in the RIS3CAT Monitoring collection.
The proposed methodology is inspired by international experiences and approaches, particularly the work of the Collective Impact Forum, Adam Kahane, David Peter Stroh, Otto Scharmer, and Ingrid Burkett.
